Labels, Designs and Attachment
This information about labels is required before we can provide you with an accurate quote for custom filling. Design your own label or contact a design company, just do an internet search for ‘label designers’ or ‘graphic designers’. Our recommended label design companies: If you design your own labels or choose another label company, note that we use rewind position #4, shown here for wrap-around bottles: For two-sided labeling, we will inform you of the rewind position when we understand the artwork, container and other parameters of your specific requirements. Omega Tech Labs requires a 3” label core and a 12” maximum diameter roll to fit our machines. Please insure that your label company knows all of our requirements. Sources – Label Printing Companies: There are dozens of label printers. Find them online. Please be advised that certain specifications are needed. Please review the FDA website for more information regarding labeling requirements (link below). We must also review the design (shape, size, design, etc.) prior to a quote and scheduled production run. Please note that hand labeling will be required for non-conforming labels. We reserve the right to charge extra for this manual process. Please coat all labels with UV (or similar) coating or plastic film. This will prevent labels from sunlight, scuffing, smearing, and accidental contact with moisture in transit. Any questions or concerns regarding the labeling process will be happily answered by your representative at Omega Tech. You are responsible for assuring the label adhesive will function correctly with the container or package. Omega Tech is not responsible for adhesion errors. Label Requirements All skin care and toiletry labels are required by law to abide by the FDA’s “Cosmetic Labeling Manual”. Key additions to labels should include, but are not limited to: Ingredients should be listed in the order by descending weight to 1%, then they can be in any order at 1% and under. All of the ingredients contained should be identified by their botanical or INCI ( International Nomenclature for Cosmetic Ingredients) name first, then (as an option) in their common name in parentheses ( ) behind the INCI name. If the product is intended only for the USA, then the INCI does not apply. Omega Tech will provide you with the ingredient “deck” for any custom designed products from our lab, however, you are responsible for verifying the INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) name accuracy. Accurate USA (Standard) and foreign (Metric) weight measurements are required on the primary label. Please ask us for the measurement equivalents to be included on your label. Description and use and cautions of the product is required. Fragrance names are optional. Maker or distributor (by name and city) and relevant contact information. We recommend using the company name, address, and phone number. Omega Tech Labs need not need to be listed on your label. Warning Statements, as necessary. We emphasize that all label items must comply with federal, state, and local cosmetic labeling and packaging regulations. Although this is your sole responsibility, we would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding such declarations. |
